This morning I felt kind of tired from yesterdays workout. I did not sleep very well last night, tossed and turned most of the night. I was going to get on the mat and work on some technique this morning, but my body really did not feel up to it. I decided to get in the weight room and get a good hard lift in and rest until the afternoon practice. One thing that I believe in is listening to your body. When your body tells you it needs rest you have to listen or you may end up getting hurt. At this time it is so important to make sure that I stay healthy. So taking it easy this morning will definitely allow me to be ready for the afternoon workout.
The afternoon workout was really tough. First of all I was still a little tired from the morning. I pretty much just bummed around during the afternoon. I played some video games and checked my email. At around 1:30 pm I got really tired, so I decided to lay down for a little while. After watching tv for a few minutes I fell dead asleep. Next thing I know its 2:40 pm. Practice is at 3 pm. So I got up got my stuff together and headed down to the wrestling room.
The workout this afternoon was focused on scoring offensively both on our feet and on the mat. First we drill technique for about 20 minutes and then the live wrestling. 10 -1 minute periods on our feet with the Olympic team member down by a point. So it was like there was one minute left in the match, I was losing by a point so I had to score to win. Then 6 40 second periods on the mat with the Olympic team member on top trying to score.
After the first 4 on our feet I was pretty tired, but I knew that I still could push it for the next 6. One of the things that really helps me in training and competition is my conditioning. I know that as the time goes on, I get better and my opponents will be more tired then me. So when I train I use that to push myself to be prepared for the situation. So even though I got tired, I worked hard and had a good workout. After the live wrestling we conditioned and called it a day.
At night I was pretty tired from the practice so I hung out i the cafeteria for a while then came up to my room to relax. I watched a little tv and played video games for a while. A little later a few of us played UNO. That was fun, the rules were pretty crazy, if you had the worst hand you could not talk until you won a hand. Needless to say I played a few hand silently. But it was all in good fun and it was nice to hang out with the other people here at camp.
That's about it for today. 51 days....
