July 31st

Well today started out good.  I got up around 7:30 am to finish packing and to get a lift.   After lifting weights, Brandon Slay and I had a meeting with Gene Pizzolato, who was back in town for another NBC Summer challenge.  We met Gene and his family for breakfast.  Gene had some ideas about getting Brandon and I some possible exposure on the local NBC stations our our home areas.  We talked a little about that, among other things during breakfast.  We are very fortunate to have been able to meet Gene, he is a great guy and he likes wrestling.    Hopefully we will be able to work with Gene and help promote our sport.

After breakfast, Brandon took me to the airport.  On the way we talked about how we felt camp went and some thing we hope to see during our next camp.

He dropped me off at the airport around 10:30am.  My flight was scheduled for 11:50am to Chicago, then onto Bethlehem, getting me home around 8:30pm.  Well the flight out of the Springs was delayed, and the flight out of Chicago was canceled.  No problem, they rerouted me on a flight leaving Colorado Springs at 2pm to Denver, to Washington-Dulles, into Bethlehem at 10:30pm.  I looked at it as a good opportunity to make some of the phone calls that I need to make.  So I took the later flight and got some work done.

I got on the 2pm flight and arrived in Denver at about 3pm.  The next flight was supposed to leave at 3:20pm so I had just enough time to make it.  Turns out I had more than enough time to make it.  The flight was delayed until 5:40pm.  OK no big deal, I can finish making calls and send some email messages.  So I found a phone and a seat and got to work.

5:20pm. I went to check on the flight and its delayed, scheduled to leave at 6:10pm.  So now I am getting a little bothered.   I asked the ticket agent, what time would I get to Bethlehem.  Tomorrow morning is the answer I got.  Turns out that the flight from Denver arrived at Washington-Dulles at 11pm, the last flight to Bethlehem leaves Washington-Dulles at 9:45pm.  So I would have to spend the nigth in Washington, which was not a huge deal, but I would rather get home tonight.  So I asked if there are any flights to Newark or Philadelphia, both about an hour or so from Bethlehem.  I could take a bus or have someone pick me up.  Great news, there is a flight to Newark, NJ leaving at 6:45pm gets in at 12:30am.  So I will be home by 1:30 am.

Delayed....The flight was delayed until 8:30pm.  Still I will be able to be at home between 2 and 3am.  I get on the flight, and I think I am home free.  No such luck.  Something was wrong with the plane and we had to get off.

So now its 2am I am still in the Denver Airport, waiting for a 6:45am flight to Dallas, then to Bethlehem, getting me home at 5pm.  What a day.  But I did get to get some stuff done and that's always a plus.

So now I am going to find a nice comfy chair or bench and sleep for a few hours and try this again tomorrow.

Good thing I have a few days off ahead of me, I am going to need them to recover from this wonderful day of traveling.
