Today was the day that I have been looking forward to. The Penn State Wrestling Classic is a great time to see old friends and people that I have not seen in a while. It also help fund activities for current and future Penn State wrestlers. Events like this made it possible for me to travel and compete while I was on the team. Also it was the first time traveling back to State College since leaving. It was weird going to State College as a visitor, but I was welcome with open arms as always.
The tournament started at 9. We played ok today. We missed a few opportunities to better our score, but we also capitalized on some that could have hurt us. We ended up 3 under par overall. That was in the top 15 I believe. We had a great time though. Thanks Matt, Brett and Jeff. Next year we will be in the top 3....maybe.
After the tournament there was a banquet and the gave away prizes. After the prizes were all awarded, Connie Christiansen, a member of the Penn State Wrestling Booster club and one of the many people that became family through the years, gave me a goodie box to wish me luck in the Olympics. It was really nice and it confirmed that I will always have support of the Penn State Wrestling community. That really means a lot to me, because they are a main reason why I am where I am today. I am so glad to have them in my life. Thank you PSU Boosters.
I am so happy that I got to see so many people today. Everyone was so supportive, and I know that even though most of them will not be in Sydney in person, they will all be there in spirit. Thank you all for your support and hope to be back in State College after the Olympics to celebrate.
After the tournament, I headed back here to Bethlehem. Dominic Black came from Colorado to train with me. I picked him up from the airport on my way home. We went to eat and hang out at Morici's for a while and then came home. Tomorrow I am participating in a photo shoot for Sports Illustrated, which should be pretty cool. I will write about that tomorrow.
I took the day off from working out today. I will pick up the training this week with Dominic and Sean Laughlin, Lehighs' heavyweight. I will get pushed hard and be ready for camp in two weeks.
